This was also featured in mixi news, but this one actually has a photo!

http://www.emimusic.jp/dancemania/news/?rssno=28

The article talks about the release party for Wa Euro Best at 9LoveJ which occured on 8/28. Floor hits included "Cruel Angel Thesis", "Ai wo Torimodose!" and "Sousei no Aquarion". They talked about how 3 Gaijin (Heather, Jason and Alex) came to the event. Um... that Heather has been there for 5 years (but this is actually her 5th year starting), Alex came from Canada and that Jason came from America to Japan specifically for ParaPara stuff. That they learned about ParaPara through the ParaPara Paradise arcade machine and that we call 和ユーロ as "J-Euro" in English.

and as a Flashback to the summer of 2006, we were also featured in a group photo from a Misa event we went to! D-tan, Jason, Jim and Heather went to this event with Starfire's Kensuke and Fusa from Hokkaido (now living in Tokyo apparently). We were featured on the Japanese Morning News the following day for dancing at the event!

"Come to SEF DELUUUUUXE!"

We took the advice from the song and went =D After some running around in circles in Roppongi we finally got to A-life where SEF is now being held. Even though we got there after opening time they still were not letting people in and were running a bit behind schedule. We at least knew we were at the right place because people waiting outside were all in their pretty summer yukatas as August is the month SEF has their summer matsuri.

Once in we took over a booth and gaijinified it 8)v SEF was the night where the Gaijin Invasion was in full force as Jason, Heather, Max, Jasmine, Maggie, Coleman, Justin, Andy and myself were all there. Oldies for the first part of the night with the locals being amazed by Jason's crazy knowledge of the classics. Rena and Mami were quite shocked to see gaijin as I caught them pointing at us in the beginning of the night. Once they moved out of the oldies things picked up as the place was filling up and more people were able to dance. Thinking strategically I spoke to Mami first as I've heard she speaks English and is the most approachable of Team SEF. She was VERY nice (read flirty XD) and not long after I went to get a pic with Rena who introduced herself as Rena~hime (Princess Rena). GOLD 8D

Things stayed pretty low key until after koushukai (which was Eternity from SEB 199 and Horror From new WLTP) when they started to play recent new stuff (saishin). As saishin, ESPECIALLY SEF choreography, is my specialty I worked up the courage to go up on the otachidai with my partner in crime J's~hime opposite of me (who fyi was on otachidai most of the night =P) and we rocked it HARDCORE. Special moment was of course Mamma Mia where J's and I jumped up and down like giddy little school girls lol ^^;. Another great one was Rena giving J's a drink mid song and making him chug. After the saishin set everything was a blur. People came up to me and I got compliments on dancing and that I knew them all *^^*. Suzujun, Rena's future husband came and introduced himself to me at the bar and we exchanged contact info. Even the barman gave me and extra free drink when I ordered one lol.

Now that I was feeling comfortable and I decided to pursue my mission: get my SEF shirt signed by every single member there. Serious FANBOY mode on 8D I went up to Mami, got her to do it first and she immediately ran off to grab whichever members were free. From that point on her and Rena, who decided to tag along, took me around the club to meet each member, take pictures with them and have them sign my shirt! ^___________^ Amazing time! The rest of the night went by quickly as lots of alcohol and good times were had. While the newer memebers (Machan, uga, and mana) were really shy the others loved having us gaijin around it seemed. The night ended with an extra encore set from DJ Boss and at the end I went to have him sign the shirt as well and thanked him for being an awesome promoter and for everything he does for the scene. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED 8)v

See if you can spot a couple of Disco NRG members on the SEF Blog ;) Please note how Mami used an Obama icon to describe me XD
http://ameblo.jp/sefblog/page-4.html#main

This night was definitely one of the highlights of my trip, but I think I'm a bit biased for obvious reasons ;) Here's some pics from this awesome night!

19. Kinnikuman Go Fight! / Scamp feat. Nagisa
20. Zankoku na Tenshi no These / Shihori

This is an interesting release. Mostly all old recycled tracks that can be found on dozens of other albums. What really intrigued everyone about this compilation was that DJ Yosshi put his career on the line and stated that if it didn't: A. Place someplace in the Oricon Top 100 or B. Sell over 10,000 copies. As reported by Dancemania-Ex.com blog his prayers have been answered and the release has achieved both! As of August 26th it's sold about 20,000 copies and placed at 23 on the Oricon. Good job! Yay for parapara not ending!!

It's not a bad album. The mixing is good, but I'm not a big fan of all of the songs. I listen to it sometimes. What the hell, go buy it!

Sorry it's taken me so long to make a post about this event but I've been busy all over the place =3

Of all the events I've been to this was definitely the biggest and probably will be for the rest of the trip. It was held at the massive Differ Ariake club which is like a huge warehouse turned club. Big sound, big stage, big everything. It was a collaboration between a Para Para event (Star Fire) and an Otaku event (Cosplay Heaven) and was very interesting. There was a Paracon, a performance of the new hit Hyper Techno track Gravity (which is actually sung by D~tan's friend and Star Fire dancer/staff Ayako), a Tech Para special performance by Ryuichi and his crew, as well as a performance by AGE Sentai, the Host Club that sang the Fireball track from the Last Love Para.

There was a giant stage so lots of people could go up and dance and I had my first dancing on otachidai (stage) experience =3. It was cool because all throughout the night I had random Japanese people coming up to me and saying they enjoyed my Para style and that I was very easy to follow ^^v It's nice to know all my practicing has come in handy! The koushukai for the night was Para Para Cute / Moonie also from the latest Love Para and Star Fire did not disappoint with this routine either! Expect a refilm of it sooner or later *bun

I would have to say the best part about this event was having backstage access and getting to meet the majority of the Star Fire crew. It was cool seeing Ryuichi, Inocchi, Ryohei, Ke~tan and co. practice and prepare for things before they went on stage and they were allll very nice. Despite language barriers they made efforts to make conversation and I appreciated this because I'm VERY shy, especially when it came to Inocchi *^^*

Below are some pics and vids form the event. Please enjoy!

First B1 last night was a good time. I think I was the drunkest one this time around but I still held my own. They had this 3-3.5 boom set with SOOOOOOOO many songs I haven't heard in ages like mega nrg man's In The Night, In The Sky In Your Soul, and tons of songs I didn't even know had dances (am I the only one who didn't know that didn't know DJ Baam! Baam! Play The Boom Boom! has a dance? =o). Of course the recent stuff set was when I lost control, especially when favoirites of mine like Catch Fire and Runaway were played!

I also got to film my very own first koushukai. Banchou and co. made sure to poke fun at Jasmine and her drunkenness from last week at every opportunity and for some reason Banchou and Ryuichi started to talk about me calling me Oniisan. I think I was distracting ryuichi during his techno koushukai because it was something he already taught a few months ago and I already knew it. It's also the original version of a classic happy hardcore song so not only was I mimicking while he did it but I was also singing along 8)v

I got to meet more people last night. Ke~tan is a sweetheart and I was surprised to see how well she knew her techno. Kazupyon and his friends gave us shots and Heather also introduced me to Banchou. DJ Satomi is really nice and her mix she did for our performance is pretty badass =D Also got to meet neoneo, HK Akira, another HK dude named Bat (?) and the list goes on. This is turning out to be a positive experience so far but I'm angry at myself for not having studied more Japanese before coming -.-

Also from the moment I got there to leaving Ryuichi would stare daggers at me no matter where I was in the room. Quite intimidating...

Tonight is the anticipated Star Fire vs. Cosplay event that i was really looking forward to even before I ended up being in the perfomance. Wish us luck everyone and I hope to have a vid of it! =)

Below is a vid I got to upload of firestepping from Disco 90's for those of you that havent got to see it before. Also thank you Heather for the gift! We should all wear it together on a specific day ;)

Wow.

Last night I headed to Disco 90s with Heather, Max and Jasmine (Andy having gone to other parts of the country for a bit) and it was a BLAAAAAAST =D Disco 90s is held at the classic King & Queen club, also known as kinqui, and is what I like to call an intimate event due to the size of the place and the crowd. It's all about 90s euro and techno there hence the name of the event so you can mostly expect to hear 1st-3rd boom tracks. It also means a definitely higher average age in the crowd lol. Even if you don't know the majority of the dances it's easy enough to follow along since it's older stuff and you can manepara your heart away and fit right in.

In terms of song selection the DJ played all of our requests, although I did specifically put Jungle Bill's Shake me up, he still played the Valentina and Mirka one >=(. Randomly at the end of the first techno set he played Be Gone and 7th Moon which was winner for Max and I 8) My highlight of the night was when in the last Euro set DJ Janny (was that his name Max?) played some 4th boom and for once the older crowd of the club was following us gaijin for help with the dances! XDDD He busted out tracks like Power, Velfarre 2006, Takumi, etc. and I went all out~ The best part was when this little woman grabbed me from the outskirts of the circle and brought me in saying "SUGOI NE?!". Heather says she did that because her and others we're following me for the dances wwwww

I have some videos of firestepping and the routine for I Will Survive (motiv8 mix) from Natsu that I wanted to post but they're taking forever to upload and I have to head out to meet up with the others to practice for our performance for the Star Fire vs. Cosplay event tomorrow. They invited me to join them granted I have Banchou's permission 8)v I'll post them tomorrow with my review of B1-Dynamite which I'm going to tonight.

I am DEFINITELY going back to Disco 90s next week as it is a load of fun =)

I have officially had my first paraibe baptism *bun

I got to the club, was so excited I was shaking as I was paying the doorman, RAN up the stairs to the first room where they were playing WANNA BE YOUR EMOTION / LOLITA from PPP7 XDDDDD Needless to say I got on the dance floor and started to dance right away. 2nd floor was 2nd and 3rd boom while the 3rd floor was New stuff and Techno. 2nd floor played some old techno as well though. I was the only person in the place to get excited for songs like Spiderman, Poison, Burning Desire, etc. BUT IT WAS MY FIRST TIME AND I DIDN'T CARE!!!! 8DDDDD I was dancing all seriously and having a blast, also enjoying the bewildered looks of the the others in the club who were wondering where this black dude came from that knows everything XD Also of note, like half of Team SEF was there as well! Mana, Takeshi, Uga and Ma-chan (along with some other Komaki Children peeps) were there and VERY drunk lol. So was Panda. I said hello to Takeshi and introduced myself while he was semi-passed out on an otachidai. He probably thought I was a dream 8)

When I went up to the top floor for the first time I finally got to meet Heather (teacher), Max (Katch), Jasmine (Ishimaru) and Andy (gaijinganguro). We stayed till the end and then we went to an Izakaya where we had a nomihoudai and celebrated my arriving in Japan and going to my first event. Very happy to chill with them as they're all SO awesome =D Andy got crazy drunk and I helped him through some rough patches. WWWW @ dude that came out of nowhere to sweep up his puke XD

I missed Karaoke with the others last night who went with some Star Fire peeps because I got lost in Shinjuku ;_; Better luck next time... Tonight is Disco 90s and I'm hyped! See you all there!

Hey everyone, It's Connor.

I'm back in Japan for a few weeks, and I went to Disco 90's last night! It's a really great event. I met up with Max and Jasmine, I met Andy and Susan from England and I hung out with Kenya from Chiba and Megu from Nagoya for a bit.

Disco 90's is a MUST-ATTEND event. The euro is pretty obscure sometimes, but the techno is always old 90's, always with a simple choreography, and everyone get's really into it.

Not to mention watching Wakana (a girl who's been dancing techno forever), Kenya and Megu freestyling vogueing and sensu dancing is worth the price of admission!

If you get there before 9 PM, it's ¥1,000 but after that it's ¥3,500 for guys, ¥2,500 for girls. If you grab a flyer and show it at the door, it's cheaper I think.

Make sure you go to this event next time you're in Tokyo.

Oh, also Firestep is a big part of the late sets and Jasmine did her best. Hopefully we'll all be drunk enough to firestep at another event!

B-1 Dynamite is tonight, Neo is Thursday. More event reports and videos to come!

・There's a Shibuya Nation DVD for the upcoming release of SEB 200 that is being distributed around a few club events. Heather and Fausia were lucky enough to get a copy, and here's the tracklist:

1. Can Can World/Makkeroni
2. Like a Fire/Mark Foster
3. Esto es la vida/DJ Zorro
4. Made in New York/Techno Mob
5. Wanna be your emotion/Lolita
6. Black UFO/Lupin

All reviews, and the dancers suck.

・ Tomomi of 9LoveJ announced her re-graduation at the 9LoveJ 10th Anniversary in April.
She's decided to leave again due to work (as a hostess as I've mentioned here before).

・ Starfire dancer Harumi and staff member Take have gotten married, and are most likely graduating from Superloose. Why?...
... Harumi is pregnant with Take's child! Oh the drama! Take was originally dating Yoshimi of Magical Rave (formerly of 9LoveJ) while Harumi was on and off with Bancho. I guess both of them got together eventually, and decided to have a kid and get married? Oh noes!

・ SEF member Rena is getting married and is graduating from Team SEF! There is a replacement lined up for her, but it is TBA.

・ Avex is predicting a revival of TechPara this summer.
There will be a new WLTP compilation to be released during the summer. The timing is just about right, as King of Techno is doing fairly well right now.

・ According to DJ Kazyan's journal, Joy (the maniac event) will be ending in approximately 2 years.

PS: We filmed this in a total of 8 minutes. Seriously. One take and the rest was setting up. This is a continuing trend... filming at the very last minute before Jim has to go to work. So taking all of that into count, please try to skip over the NGs >_
